Why GenoCAD?

Why life science teams choose GenoCAD over legacy plasmid providers

We build modular, traceable, and self-documenting plasmids for teams who can’t afford to guess what's in their DNA.

The problems with legacy plasmids

  • Poor and incomplete documentation
  • Ambiguous or inconsistent annotations
  • No traceability or version control
  • Outdated designs optimized for cloning, not function
  • Not built for automation or engineering workflows
  • Intellectual property vulnerabilities

Legacy plasmids come with decades of baggage that slows you down.

What Makes GenoCAD Different

Our plasmids aren’t just DNA — they’re engineered genetic devices built on proven design principles:

Modularity: Built from interoperable, functional modules that can be reused, swapped, and optimized.

Hierarchy: Designed from the ground up using formal rules that define structure, function, and compatibility.

Complexity: Emerges from combining simple, well-characterized modules — not from ad hoc design.

Security: Includes built-in digital features like GSIN™ to ensure traceability, integrity, authenticity, and IP protection.

Documentation: Every plasmid is delivered with full, unambiguous documentation — including sequence files, maps, and audit trails.

Don’t Buy a Plasmid. Buy Trust.

In high-stakes research, the real value isn’t just in the DNA molecule — it’s in knowing you can rely on it. With TrueVectors™, you get more than a plasmid:

  • Clear complete documentation you can trust.
  • Futureproof modular designs you can build upon.
  • Traceable genetic tools with built-in digital identity
  • Support from scientists who understand your research.

To produce data you won’t question, you need DNA molecules you can trust.

Made in the USA — No Offshore Suppliers

All of our products are designed, manufactured, and quality-checked entirely within the United States. We do not rely on offshore suppliers or subcontractors. This approach gives us end-to-end control over our operations, ensuring that intellectual property remains secure, turnaround times are predictable, and quality standards are consistently met. It also allows us to respond quickly to customer needs without the delays and risks associated with international sourcing.

Delivering more than DNA

Why did you choose to work with us?

Our synthetic biology group’s research centers around high throughput cloning and genetic engineering, with plasmid constructs taking at minimum 1 week to make with no trial and error. We often work with mycoplasma constructs that can be even more challenging. Circumventing the need for cloning, primer design, or ordering synthetic DNA fragments offers benefits of our researcher’s time for other experiments, as well as not getting caught up in troubleshooting especially for those less experienced in cloning. With reliable and cost effective plasmid synthesis we can envision large scale projects to uncover more foundational understanding of biological functions and design  systems capable of much more complex functions.

What did you think of the design review process?

Collectively we learned a great amount during the design review, and the special attention, help, and expertise GenoCAD offered was highly valuable! Annotated Genbank files opposed to fasta helped us troubleshoot more. In addition to the initial design review, I found the project status report and detailed explanations of construction attempts and design options particularly helpful.

Value for the price

In general the prices for custom plasmid synthesis is  appealing and competitive with other services and/or generating in house. Specifically for this most recent order it was difficult to evaluate the price and incredibly appreciated for delivering despite the costs and difficulties encountered! Considering many of these engineered constructs can directly lead to high impact publications with facile experimental validation the value is high for simple and complex constructs alike.

Ability to handle complex projects?

The design of our plasmids was particularly challenging and not seen outside of synthetic biology applications. That being said, the ability to deliver was not something competing companies could even offer. Going forward we can taylor our designs to be less likely to encounter such troubleshooting efforts and have strong confidence in working with GenoCAD to achieve more of these complex projects.

How we communicated with you during the project?

I believe the frequent and detailed questions and  video meetings were very productive with each communication, and they were necessary for completing our objectives.
